Running Crazy - A Survey

Happy friday!! I thought I'd mix it up with a fun little survey I have seen being passed around some blogs I enjoy. Feel free to chime in using the comments section!

Three items I can't run without:
  1. My garmin watches
  2. tights
  3. Personally fitted shoes

FAVORITE POST-RACE MEAL
Breakfast items! I love fresh fruit, bagels with cream cheese and veggie omelets. Oh, and beer! Lately, I've had intense cravings for grape pixie sticks so I've been treating myself to one after each of my races.

ON MY RUNNING BUCKET LIST
Kiawah Island Marathon in 211 days! I also hope to run a 50k next year and a 50miler at some point as well!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF CROSS TRAINING?
Riding my road bike, Trekky of course! I love riding outside when it's nice or hopping on a spin bike at the gym. 


CURRENT MOTIVATIONAL MANTRA
These change often for me. Right now, I've got two-

"Yes, you can breathe. No, your legs are not that tired. Keep going." I like to repeat this one to myself when I think I'm dying at practice. 

"No one is going to put a limit on what I'm doing."-Michael Phelps. I shared this with you guys here.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO WHILE YOU RUN?
My absolute favorite music to listen to when I need to get pumped up is old school Lil Wayne (rap) but I also play country, pop and other hip hop.

WHAT BRAND OF SHOES DO YOU WEAR?
Right now, I'm wearing Brooks. I don't have a particular brand I like more than others, but I do get fitted for my running shoes in order to keep old injuries at bay and most of the time, I end up in Brooks. 

DO YOU WEAR A HAT WHEN YOU RUN?
Sometimes. 75% of the time I have a headband on. I always wear a hat when its raining, and sometimes when I'm just in the mood for it!

WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL TEMPERATURE TO RUN IN?
One that I can comfortable wear tights and a long sleeve in! I'm not sure what it is, but I like to work out and run in tights and a hoody. (My dad also does this....well not the tights but he wears sweats and a sweatshirt. So maybe it's a hereditary thing? Ha!) I would say around 47-50 degrees with no rain!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISTANCE TO RUN?
13.1 miles, definitely! I don't know what it is about a half, but it's challenging and I love it!



ARE YOU A MORNING, NOON, OR EVENING RUNNER?
Morning, please! I'd rather run at 4am than do a workout of any sort in the afternoon or evening. Plus, I like to run fasted, and it's hard for me to go three hours during the day without eating.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO FUEL DURING RACES?
I'm a Gu girl all the way. My favorite is the Vanilla Bean with caffeine!



WHAT DO YOU USE TO HYDRATE?
During runs, I hydrate with water only. If I have a really hot run that's at least 5 miles, I will drink a gatorade after my run is completed. I use Nuun tabs throughout the day. I probably drink at a few hundred ounces of water with Nuun Tabs in a day.


DO YOU PREFER TO RUN SOLO OR WITH A BUDDY?
Depends on my mood! I used to only run solo. Now, since joining Without Limits, I run twice a week in groups and every now and then share my weekend run with a buddy or two. 

DO YOU WEAR A GARMIN?
Always! I have my go-to watch for running and then I have one that I use primarily for work to time my classes working intervals that also has a GPS just in case I need a back up. I feel lost when I forget Garmy!!!



WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF RUNNING WORKOUT? 
It really depends on the day. I enjoy speed work when it's in intervals of less than 400m. I absolutely DREAD running 800's. I also like anything that is long and slow.

HOW DO YOU FUEL BEFORE A LONG RUN?
If my run is first thing in the morning, I drink water and that's it. I will start eating Gu at 45 minutes in during anything that's going to be over 6-7 miles. If my run is later on in the day, I always try to eat exactly three hours before and it's usually something with protein and carbs like a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and some fruit.
