This morning started off around 6:30am when the Fitness Pups and I went for a nice long walk, followed by a quick breakfast before I headed out to Paws Place for a few hours of dog walking.
I threw some smoky maple bacon tempeh into a pan for an easy breakfast sandwich and a side of grapes.
I spent the first hour at Paws Place walking Millie, a one year old pup who has tons of energy and needs lots of time on the leash. Then I spent 15 minutes each with several other pups. I can't believe how lucky I got with this volunteer position. Most all of the other volunteers would rather clean the kennels and they have a hard time getting people to walk the dogs. I would much rather walk the dogs and interact with them than clean kennels! To me, that's a no-brainer! It's not hard offering my time to do something so enjoyable.
When I arrived back at home and walked in the door, my pups were NOT happy with the "other dog" scents all over me. I had to shower before I did anything else, despite the appetite I worked up from three hours of walking. So afterward, I made another fast and easy meal for lunch. A Malibu Vegan Burger with lettuce, tomato and vegan mayo. On the side, I had a pre made quinoa tabouli salad and topped it with a a few pecans.
That's good stuff!
