Confused Ghost

Here's a question for you all...

So if Christmas Eve is the night before Christmas, why do people refer to Halloween day as "All Hallow's Eve?" Shouldn't today be Halloween Eve instead of Hallow's Eve Eve?

I'm confused. Are you?

Anyway, happy day before Halloween, whatever you call it!

Last night I completed my first "run" in my 20-week half marathon training plan. Even though I have put a whopping 3 miles in, I am super excited to really get into my training. The first couple weeks incorporate walking and running together to complete the allotted miles for the week. This is a tedious but smart way for me to start training because I always start off going way too hard and burn myself out. Slow and steady!

Thankfully, I have my trusty Garmin Forerunner from Zach to keep track of my miles, calories burnt and pace outdoors while it's still warm enough to enjoy runs outside.

Now lets remember, I am not a runner. I am a lifter! I paced my .5 mile runs at a 10 minute mile , giving myself 5 minutes per half mile ran and 10 per half mile walked. It was pretty easy. I was worried about my back hurting as I have had some serious pain during any high impact activity lately, which is likely stemming from an old injury I had a couple years ago. I want to try to stay as pain free as possible during this training process so the biggest challenge for me is going to be to not overdo it, especially during these first few weeks when the runs are really easy.

Once I got back home, I whipped up one of those "whatever is in the fridge" salads with tempeh, olives, avocado and balsamic vinaigrette. Not to shabby! It's definitely time for another grocery store run.

The rest of my afternoon includes office work, class prep, my second run of the week and a Yin Deep Stretch class at 6:15. Maybe some grocery shopping after that if I'm up for it!

Have a fantastic afternoon!
