The Brinks' Garden

Last week, I was invited to the home of a couple that frequents the gym at Porters Neck, as well as my fitness classes. When Nancy told me they would have to show me their garden, I had no idea I would be looking at something special enough to be straight out of a magazine.

The garden was AH-MAAAZZ-ING. I have never seen anything like it. Best of all, they do everything themselves, each putting their own unique touch on each section. Nancy specializes in the small bursts of color and giving each portion personality while Ron has a story of the history behind each and every single tree and plant. It was truly awesome to watch someone talk about something they are so passionate about.

Mr. Brink put in all the stones himself. I saw before and after photos, you wouldn't believe there was literally about 10 total shrubs there before they started.

My phone really can't do this place justice! The part of their house you see in this photo is an outdoor patio with screens up to keep the bugs out. We spent the evening there eating delicious homemade salsa from fresh tomatoes and basil straight from the garden. Mr. Brink even sent me home with 5 tomatoes! Can't wait to put those to use tomorrow, yummy.

The fish in this pond were just little guys when the Brinks originally got them, but they have clearly adapted to their home and grown to be quite large. I got to witness a feeding and you'd be quite surprised how loud fish actually are. It was interesting watching them push each other around to get to the food.

The lines across the pond are strings to keep birds from swooping down and getting to the fish.

Tara- daughter of PNCC Golf Pro- Torey. She was so smiley and didn't cry one single time! So stinkin cute.

It was such a nice evening and the Brinks are such a nice couple. They have been so welcoming to me with my transition to Porters Neck and its people like them that make working in a position like mine so worthwhile.
