Sounds delicious right? It is!! Since going vegan I have really missed making my microwave popcorn. I've always had an obsession with cheese so to make things worse, I often times heated up the bag of popcorn and then put it all in a bowl and melted cheese on top. SO YUMMY. Obviously can get pretty high calorie and certainly isn't vegan with the butter and cheese. So, I was on a mission to get my popcorn fix some way, some how. Lucky for me, my friend Kelly who has been vegan for a few years showed me a little secret...you can actually pop your own kernels in a brown lunch bag. So, with Zach's help- we created a little recipe. Here's what you need:
- Olive oil- I use a Mr. Misto spray. Tell you more about it later.
- Salt (optional)
- Popcorn seeds
- 1 brown lunch bag
1. Place the popcorn seeds in the brown bag and fold the top over a few times. Place in in the microwave and choose the popcorn setting.
2. "Pop, pop, POP!" Check that out, I got a bag full of popcorn!
3. Pour the popcorn in a bowl and add salt and olive oil. Another way to keep this vegan is to use Earth Balance butter. Vegan or not, this is an awesome snack!
4. Enjoy!
Mr. Misto- Can be purchased at any Kitchen Collection store or other places that sell kitchen items. It's awesome because instead of pouring olive oil (or any oil you prefer) into the pan when baking/ cooking or onto your food, you save a ton of calories by spraying it instead. All you have to do is pour the oil into the Mr. Misto, pump the cap a few times and spray. It will also save you money because your extra oil wont go to waste.
What else do you think would taste great on this homemade popcorn?
