Hey Monday! I'm sure I can speak for absolutely everyone when I say how happy we all are to have you here again. :)
Weekend Recap
My weekend was a good one, spent savoring the little time I get with Zachary before he heads back to school this week. With our busy schedules, we have no idea when we will get to see each other again so I'm trying to soak up every moment I get with him before he heads out Wednesday morning.
My 3 cuties :)
Saturday after work, we hit the gym and then went to Zach's favorite Chinese buffet restaurant in Wilmington. Surprisingly, I was able to get a bunch of different healthy options including vegan sushi, some crunchy and delicious green beans, salad and a little bit of veg lo mein. We spent the rest of the evening hanging out with the Fitness Pups and watching Dexter. I've already seen every episode but Zach just started and we are on season two. It's good enough to watch twice so I don't mind at all!
Yesterday, I got up early and did some chores including cleaning, laundry and walking the pups. Once Zach was up we got a leg workout in at the gym, ate dinner at Flaming Amy's Burrito Barn and then went to a 5pm service at Port City Church that had a great, challenging message. I'm excited to discuss it further at Bible Study next week. Having a church that you truly look forward to going to every week, is just a really awesome thing!
Today
I'm currently enjoying an early lunch! The protein bar and tea I had this morning for breakfast when I got to work is not holding me over. On Mondays, the club restaurant is closed so I take a break from my asian salad. Today I have a salad of romaine lettuce, olives, vegan turkey, edamame, croutons, carrots, celery and cauliflower- all tossed in italian dressing.
It's always important to have healthy things on hand at work when a hunger craving hits! The first thing I bought for my office was a mini fridge at Walmart to make sure I can always keep healthy foods on hand. Here's what's in my fridge right now:
- Mixed fruit- watermelon, blueberries, pineapple, mango and grapes -brought today for my second lunch around 2-3pm
- Vegan Sushi- also a part of my second lunch around 2-3pm
- Silk Pure Almond Vanilla "milk"- I always keep this on hand. It's my favorite to mix with protein powder! It also comes in shelf stable single serving sizes as you can see below.
- Vegan pepperoni and turkey slices- I eat these plain or throw them in salads.
- Neurosonic- Lightly carbonated 35 calorie drink with vitamins and caffeine.
Outside of cold items, here are a few other things I have in my office right now:
- Clifbuilder protein bars- I found out that these are vegan recently and am so pumped to have found them with 20g of protein! Vegan protein bars typically have around 10g each so this was a life changer for me!
- Tea- Right now I've got Fiery Chai (Thanks Santa!) and caffeine free Bengal Spice for days I'm here late and don't want to disrupt my sleep by drinking caffeine too late in the day. Bengal Spice tea is my all time favorite tea- it tastes like a snickerdoodle!
- Stevia extract packets- Zero-calorie, all natural sweetener that I put in tea and coffee.
- Vega One and Raw Protein Powders to mix with water or almond milk
Having healthy options on hand is important, especially if you work in an environment where tempting treats are often brought in or your coworkers go out to eat a lot. It's cheaper and healthier, and easier to stay on track by keeping your office stocked with good-for-you stuff!
Question(s) of the Morning:
What do you do when hunger strikes at work? Do you bring your own food? What are some of your favorite go-to work snacks/meals?
Omg we love dexter can't wait for the new ones to be out on Netflix!! So because I'm a stay at home mama and have access to food all day I enjoy making green tea and toast with almond butter and a banana for breakfast. For lunch I usually do a salad, and for dinner it's a veggie burger with siracha and some sort of veggie.
ReplyDeleteI always have easy snacks on hand such as bananas, yogurt, fresh fruit, nuts, protein bars, etc. It's a challenge to eat well on the job but I agree that it is good to think ahead and have healthy options on hand for when the hunger hits.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! THanks for sharing! I also love to have bananas with peanut butter at work. Only problem is, I can only get the single servings of peanut butter because if I bring the whole jar to work, it can be disastrous!!!!
