Octoberfest: Fall Brew Roundup Part I

I know I've talked about how much I love Fall a lot lately, I'm so excited it's here! One reason that I haven't shared yet, is how much I also love, FALL BEER! Now please note, this is a post I have been working on for several weeks. (I did NOT drink all of these in one sitting, mom). According to barnivore.com these are all vegan friendly. Below, you will see each seasonal beer I tried, in no particular order, and my personal thoughts/comments.

Sam Adams Octoberfest

Nutrition: 5.3% alcohol, 187 calories
Flavor: caramel/toffeeish, light malt beer
Commercial Description: "...the classic Oktoberfest lager blends 5 roasted malts for a rich, hearty flavor that's perfect for the season, or whatever you're celebrating."
Overall Ranking: 6/10

Uinta Brewing Co Punk'n

Nutrition: 4.0% alcohol, 125 calories
Flavor: I was drawn to this beer because it was not only vegan but also certified organic. It had a nice pumpkin flavor but still tasted like a nice, light beer.
Commercial Description: "...sessionable pumpkin ale brewed with fresh pumpkin and seasonal spices."
Overall Ranking: 5/10

Angry Orchard Hard Cider- Cinnful Apple

Nutrition: 5.0% alcohol, 150 calories
Flavor: Where's the beer taste? Literally tasted like a christmas candle. Extreme cinnamon and apple. Way too sweet.
Commercial Description: "...crisp and refreshing with a spicy twist. The sweet, slightly tart apple flavor is balanced with cinnamon spice, adding a slight heat for a flavor that is truly cinnful."
Overall Ranking: 1/10 (I poured it out, it was so bad)

Shipyard Brewing Co- Pumpkinhead Ale

Nutrition: 4.7% alcohol, 185 calories
Flavor: Tastes like a light lager with too much Pumpkin Pie Spice poured in. Apparently I hate anything remotely close to cinnamon beers.
Commercial Description: "...a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with delightful aromatics and a subtle spiced flavor."
Overall Ranking: 3/10

Woodchuck Hard Cider- Private Reserve Pumpkin

Nutrition: 6.9% alcohol, 250 calories
Flavor: Delicious! Light, a very soft sweetness, very drinkable. It has a really unique taste that honestly, I can't even put my finger on.
Commercial Description: "This is not a pumpkin spiced cider*. This is a cider born from real pumpkins. When that natural pumpkin character is balanced against a crisp apple backdrop, the resulting cider is truly one of a kind."
Overall Ranking: 9/10
