Does anyone else find themselves thinking about their next meal while they are working out? Specifically when I do the Sunday morning "Breakfast and a Roll" ride with the club out to Panera and back, the only thing I can think about is my bagel and tea. It definitely gets me through the 30 miles though. Hey, whatever motivates you, right?
By the time we reached Panera we were at 18 miles. I refueled with a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and iced tea as usual! This morning however, I tried the Acai Berry tea with lemons rather than the berry hibiscus. It was certainly refreshing but I definitely like my berry hibiscus better.
We took a 10 mile route back, completing 28.5 miles in all. It was a really good ride for me, my legs felt great which is encouraging because I felt pretty awful on the Wednesday night ride. I rode 4 days this week though so that's good for me! I was pretty excited about that. 10 miles got my appetite worked up again and I was so excited that when I check my mailbox, my Vitamix had arrived!
So of course, I whipped up a green juice- post workout recovery style.
Green Recovery Juice
- 1 handful of kale
- 1 banana
- 1 scoop of protein powder
- 1 tbsp of chia
- 8 ice cubes
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
I drank that and ate some grapes on the side. Yum!
Have a wonderful Sunday.
What gets you through your workouts?
Thinking about how awesome my next meal is going to taste, definitely does the trick for me!
