Super Energizing Green Smoothie

It's officially FREEZING in Wilmington. Okay, not freezing but this morning it was in the 50's. It was the first time I felt like I NEEDED a sweatshirt to take the Fitness Pups on their morning stroll. Yikes! I am certainly ready for this humid, hot summer to pass but Fall goes by much too quickly. Cold weather is not fun. I will have to make the most of Fall while it's here.

My favorite month of the year is coming soon and I get excited to see pumpkins out in the grocery stores. Grady and Muffin have some super fun October outfits that I got on clearance last year after Halloween so get excited for upcoming fashion shows!

Recap- My Day off

Yesterday I met one of my other favorite Bob's at the club for a morning ride around 8am. We added on an additional neighborhood to our typical Tuesday morning ride and ended up with 18.7 miles. I felt really great all ride and he even noticed that I seem to be getting stronger. Exciting! I am even more motivated to ride outside now that it's not scorching hot out so I'm already planning on hitting up the evening ride tonight.

After our ride, I went to another branch of our local library here and walked out with about 10 books on raw diets and a couple vegan cookbooks to browse through. I also made a Trader Joes trip which is always exciting. I love grocery shopping! Other than that, it was a pretty relaxing day, hanging out with the pups!

This morning started off with a quick cup of iced coffee that I prepared yesterday evening and refrigerated overnight. I mixed it up with some ice and unsweetened almond milk to get me going this morning. Breakfast is in progress from my desk. A SUPER ENERGIZING Green Smoothie! You'd think I'd pick something warm this morning considering I've been shivering since I woke up. Maybe that coffee hasn't kicked in yet...

Into the blender:
  • 1 handful of baby spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 5-6 ice cubes

I'm obsessed with the spinach/banana combo. If you aren't a spinach lover but know how important it is to get this super food into your daily diet, smoothies are the perfect way to do it. They take on a different taste once blended up. It's very subtle and whatever else you blend with it really takes over so you can hardly taste it. YUM!

Agenda for the day includes teaching two water fitness classes, lots of catch up office work and a nutrition consult around 2. After work I'm going to get a quick lift in and join the bike club for the Flaming Amy's ride at 6pm.

I hope you all have a great morning!

What is your favorite thing about Fall?
I like that the weather is perfect for outdoor workouts and walks with the Fitness pups! Fall clothes are also my favorite- I love boots and hoodies!
