No Joke Walking Workout

I met my good friend Lauren at my Yoga Studio yesterday evening for a Hot Detox and Hold class. I haven't seen her all summer so it was so good catching up before and after class. When her and I get together its hilarious how the topic immediately goes to our current favorite healthy foods and workouts. It's always nice to have a couple friends who are as much of a fitness junkie as I am! Her and I also have something else in common in the fact that she is also in an LDR (long distance relationship!) So we made sure to make plans to have venting sessions over lunch/coffee and workouts!

The class was great and as usual, I sweat like a murderer strapped up to a lie detector test. Okay, I know that was a really weird analogy. Did I just admit to my current guilty pleasure... ??? Apparently I have been watching wayyy to much Law and Order SVU on my  iPad before bed!

Guilty Pleasure- exposed!

After class the sun was shining for the first time in a week so I had to go do something outside! I walked a couple miles around Hugh McCrae Park and chatted on the phone with a friend, who was good to catch up with as well! She just got her first big girl job so I am very excited for her.

Now for the good stuff!

No Joke Walking Workout

The rules are...there are no rules! You make your own! :)

Set out on a walking path you like to take and think about some of the common things you see while you are out. Then set up your routine so that every time you see those objects you have something different to do! Here's what I did this morning:
  • Every 5 minutes do 20 walking lunges
  • Park Bench 60 sec plank
  • Each new color of flower 60 calf raises
  • Bridge 25 Jumping Jacks
  • Ledge of any sort 20 incline push ups, 20 dips
  • Jogger Jog for 60 sec
  • Biker 20 walking lateral lunges
Add/remove/modify to fit your needs! And always rest as needed.

I actually really enjoyed this and worked up a really good sweat! I covered about 2.5 miles in an hour with all the other stuff thrown in. I also saw Bob and some members of the bike club out on their Sunday morning ride. Unfortunately since I had to get a ride home yesterday after my ride, I left Trekky at work in my office so we didn't get to go this morning.

By the way, I have been eating the No Bake Oatmeal Protein Energy Balls I made yesterday like candy. They are awesome cold but I do wish they were a little more moist so I'm going to experiment with them again soon. If you decide to make them, you may want to add your favorite type of milk or maybe even something like applesauce or greek yogurt would do the trick. I'm going to try a frozen banana and milk in the next batch.

Off to Yoga!

Your Turn!
What fun ideas do you have to throw into the "No Joke Walking Workout?"
