I hope everyone has had a fantastic week and an enjoyable Thursday. I've got one more class to teach and I'm off for the day. It's been a long one and for some reason I've got a pretty awful headache goin' on so I will be happy to get home to my Fittie Pups and cozy bed!
The morning started out with a Warm Power Flow Yoga class. I had originally planned to go straight to the gym from there but realized that wasn't going to workout in the flip flops I wore to Yoga class. So I went into work early, got a lot done, and hit the gym for a mid-morning lunch break. 30 minute treadmill workout looked like this:
5 min warm-up
For 20 minutes- Increase speed or sprint during choruses
Slow to a jog or walk during verses
5 min cool-down
Make sure you have your iPod! Increasing your intensity as the song increases it's intensity is a great way to focus your energy away from aching legs and breathing struggles. Perfect workout anytime you need a little extra push.
Since then it has been a crazy day with a bunch going on here at Porters Neck Country Club. It's a great problem to have when the Fitness Center is buzzing and classes are full. I can't emphasize enough how happy I am to be here! The members and staff have been great to me and I really enjoy what I'm doing. Loving what you do really has an impact on well-being, I know that first hand.
I just whipped up a protein shake, the usual Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana but also added in some chia seed for an extra pick me up. If you haven't heard of chia seed, or have been wondering what the heck people are so excited about, I've got the scoop for you.
It can be used in many recipes such as smoothies, cookies, breads, puddings, salads and protein bars. Add it to your oatmeal, pancakes and sprinkle it into your tea. At 60 calories per serving, it is well worth it!
Have you tried Chia seed? What do you add it to?
I have had chia seed in tea, smoothies and added it to homemade cookies and protein bars.
