Fitness Gifts for Guys

It's the second week of January, so you know what that means! New Years is soooo yesterday, and Valentine's day is on the horizon. If you have been to the grocery store lately, you'll find a chocolately heaven of Valentine's Day candies. I like Valentine's Day, mostly because the decorations are so darn cute!

In the past, I have featured great fitness finds for the Fittie in your life, but I would say that a majority of them were leaning toward the feminine side. So, I thought for Valentine's Day, we should do a Fittie Gift Guide for Guys! So all you men out there, if I missed something, please, play along and add it to the comments section!

Anything Related to Their Favorite Team
"Devoted sports fan" must be a genetic trait for the men in my family. When I played softball at Marshall, anything Thundering Herd themed was the perfect gift for my father. And my brother Robert, is just as bad. He and his entire little family have everything and anything you can possibly think of in blue and green, their beloved Seahawks colors. It's nearly impossible to get him a present anymore because the Seahawks are his one and only interest and he already owns everything they make but a blue and green toilet seat.

Savage Seahawk Sofie (Yes, that is her real name) in her Hawks jersey

And since we're on the subject, just thought I'd share- ever since I started calling Grady and Muffin the Fitness Pups, Robert has adapted the name for Savage and now calls her the Seahawk pup. Yeah, he's one of those crazy fans!

Robert's license plates and car sticker
  • Jerseys (and matching ones for their pets!)
  • Shirts, hoodies, ties, pajamas, hats and other clothing items
  • Home decor like pillows, blankets, rugs, dishes, plaques, indoor/outdoor flags etc.
  • Pet items like collars, leashes, food bowls, shirts
  • Auto accessories like seat covers, steering wheel covers, stickers, air fresheners, license plates and frames
  • Random items like koozies, sunglasses, phone covers, mouse pads, water bottles, coffee cups, coolers...the list goes on and on!
Hats
Does your guy like to wear a hat to the gym? The one he's been wearing is probably gross and sweaty if so!

Other Fitness Apparel
I think I need to get this shirt for Zachary

Supplements
Especially if your guy is a lifter or a runner, he most likely is interested in supplements such a whey protein, casein, creatine and pre workout. Find out what flavors he likes and then go from there! A lot of times people have a specific brand they like and have used for a while. If they are a regular protein or supplement user, one can never have too much of it on hand!

Shaker Cups
If the guy on your list uses one of these, lets be honest, it probably hasn't been cleaned in a while. If you have never smelled the inside of a guys shaker cup before, let me tell you, you are missing out.....on THE WORST SMELL EVER. Not only that, but guys constantly leave their shaker cups places, lose them  or break them so keep in mind, one can never have too many shakers!

Tupperware
Every meathead I've ever known has one specific thing about them that they share with every other guy in the gym. They always have chicken near by. (Can you say, gross?) Anyway, tupperware is the perfect thing for guys because again, they are irresponsible and lose, break, or never clean the containers they do have. They need something to carry around their chicken breast to work/class every day. Glass tupperware is the best because it is safe to microwave. You can get a great deal on a whole set at Costco!

This is the exact set I got on sale at Costco about a year ago

Food
Whether you make it or buy it, we all know that men like food. There are a ton of cute Valentine's Day themed desserts on Pinterest right now. If you are someone with time on your hands and a knack for creativity, these would be right up your alley!

Headphones
Always a good purchase for your favorite Fittie. We all know the frustration when one of the ear buds goes out, or our headphones get caught in the stationary bike wheel and snap. There's nothing worse than walking into the gym and realizing you forgot your headphones. Motivation=Gone. Even if he doesn't need a pair now, he will eventually. Plus, he can keep the spare pair in his car in case of emergencies!

Books, movies, and other literature
Zach is very much into all things strength and conditioning, including the science behind the subject. This was a book he got from my parents for Christmas this year. Other ideas include movies, subscriptions to Netflix or Hulu so they can stream videos while doing cardio and/or magazine subscriptions to a topic of interest. If you aren't sure on what exactly your guy already has or likes, an iTunes gift card would be a perfect option as well to purchase movies and music to use during workouts.

Question of the Day:
Guys: What is the best health related gift you've ever received? What is one thing you wish you had?
Ladies: What ideas do you have for the men in your life?
