When people tell me I'm in shape, I always make a joke about my insane family members and let them know that I am easily the LEAST fit of the Sofie family. My dad is a retired Police Chief and has boasted a 9% body fat after the age of 40 while attending the FBI Academy. He never misses a workout, and although he still does "behind the head lat pulldowns" (we all know this move should be done in front to protect the neck) he somehow eats all the dessert in the world and still looks great. We're talking about a guy who eats candy orange slices and tries to convince me he's getting his serving of fruit in for the day.
This is the guy that taught me how to swing a bat!

My sister, Jillian might just be the best athlete in the house. She has won SEVERAL gold medals in the Special Olympics for the "walking" event (she is autistic-pervasive developmental disorder). She also continues to walk on the treadmill every single day for 60-90 minutes. Although it's a pain to get her up there sometimes, she sure seems to enjoy it as we can hear her singing along with the radio throughout the entire house. It's gotta be that endorphin release!

Robert is my brother. Take one look at his picture below and I don't need to explain why he is in better shape than I am. Not only is he very strong in the weight room but he also is a phenomenal cardiovascular athlete. Robert enjoys almost a weekly 5k, walking his dog several miles a day, bike races going from Seattle, Washington all the way to Portland, Oregon and going to the gym at 3am every morning. Enough said.

My Grandma Myrtle- walked on a treadmill for an hour a day until she was 86 years old. Compete with that! When I told my best friend in college about this, she always said she would never go visit my parents because she would have to wake up and go to the "Sofie Family Boot Camp." Grams is also the cutest thing you ever did see....

Last but certainly not least, the real Fitness Queen of the family, is my mother. When people tell me I look jacked, I just shake my head and say "you have no idea what I have to live up to!" My mom is the most dedicated person I have ever met in terms of diet and exercise. She has the lean muscle mass to prove it! When I visit in Omaha, each day that I am there she endures 1-2 hours split between the elliptical and treadmill and also lifts weights every single day. Not only this, but she is a vegetarian and cooks and eats extremely clean. Focusing on whole, natural foods, my mom is the epitome of health. Every time she goes to the doctor, her already above average cholesterol only gets better. Another running joke is how long she will outlive my daddy and all his orange slices....
