What I Love About Winter

Happy Monday! At a chilling 25 degrees here in Wilmington, I am embracing what finally feels like Christmas time!! I don't like being cold, but I do love enjoying the seasons. Plus, I'm a boots and hoody kinda girl anyway so it works out perfectly for me!

What I Love About Winter

1. Everything is so pretty: Houses and trees look so pretty all lit up with Christmas lights, decorations and a fresh layer of snow.

2. Footprints: I think footprints in the snow is one of the sweetest things, particularly little dog prints. OH! :)

3. Warm Starbucks: I rarely drink warm coffee. 95% of the time I prefer it over ice or even blended with ice. When it gets really cold out, a warm peppermint mocha or gingerbread latte is the perfect treat!

4. Hoodies, boots and scarves: Fall and winter clothes are my absolute favorite!

5. Family Time: Thanksgiving and Christmas are always time for family to come together which gives me something to look forward to. Coming home to my parents beautiful house with Christmas decorations everywhere is one of my favorite times of the year.

6. Going to see a Christmas Play: I have absolutely adored the Nutcracker since I was a little girl. One of my favorite things about the Holidays is getting all dressed up with my mom, sister and Grandma and going to see a Christmas play.

7. Watching Christmas Movies: Home Alone- easily all time favorite Christmas movie. I also really enjoy Elf, (who doesn't?) We have watched this one every year as a family since it came out. The first time my dad watched it, I swear he laughed so hard he cried. Snuggling up in Christmas PJ's on the couch with a Holiday movie is my kinda winter evening.

Feel free to play along in the comments section! What do you love about winter?

Today
My morning started off with a successful check up with a nutrition consultation and now I'm enjoying what appears to be a very bland breakfast but is actually just what I need- a toasted whole wheat bagel, peanut butter and coffee. I woke up craving carbs, likely from my hard work yesterday at the Seaside Shuffle 5k and lack of appetite in the evening. Because I'm still working through some appetite issues as of late, the meals that I am getting in need to be higher in calorie and nutrient dense so that I still get my vitamins and minerals in.

So, friends, Thanksgiving week is finally here. Think of the next few days and treat them as "Last Chance Workout" style! If you are a Biggest Loser fan, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. If not, you can get a little taste here. I have found that the best way to indulge without guilt is to work hard all week long and EARN that Thanksgiving meal! I know as soon as I get home I am entering into Sofie family boot camp zone so I definitely have to be prepared to keep up with everyone else in my super fit family!

Plans for today include my last day of work today before I am officially on vacation for the week! I've got a ton of office stuff to do and a TRX class at 4:00. I have a feeling that this day is going to fly! Have a good one.
